Murray to complete shakedown of new Erebus chassis
Erebus Motorsport will hit the track at Winton Motor Raceway next Friday 15 May to shakedown its newly completed chassis.
The new Erebus chassis, designated EM09, has been assigned to #99 driver Cooper Murray and will continue to race under the TotalEnergies Quartz banner.
Ahead of its racing debut in Symmons Plains later this month, Murray will complete 20 laps (60km) around the Victorian circuit in the new Camaro.
The team began building the new car while awaiting the arrival of the shipping containers following the New Zealand double-header in Taupō and Christchurch.
“The crew have done a fantastic job putting this new car together between New Zealand and Tasmania,” Erebus CEO Barry Ryan said.
“All of our cars are built to the same standard, but I know having a fresh chassis can help instil more confidence in a driver, and we’re hoping to see that carry into Tasmania.”
Of the upcoming shakedown, Murray said, “It’s exciting when you get a fresh car, everything is shiny and new.
“The 60km shakedown will be good to debut it on track and make sure it’s ready for Tassie the following week.
“The team worked really hard putting this car together and hopefully we can build on our more positive Christchurch results heading into Tassie.”
Murray’s previous chassis, EM06, will now be raced by teammate Jobe Stewart in the #9 entry, while Stewart’s EM07 chassis retires.
Erebus Motorsport will return to the track when Supercars resume for Round 5 at Symmons Plains, 22 - 24 May.
